Time, time, time

Is running out.

We have come to the understanding that 2.0 probably won't be ready for dreamhack. But we will still be there and yes we will enter the stage and show how amazingly cool 2.0 will be, when it's ready. Meet us there and tell us your opinion.

Yes it has been confirmed, you can meet us at Dreamhack so now the goal is that we can present 2.0 there.

See you all there.

Feature Outline

Ok, I wrote that I was gonna do a sneakpeak and feature online this weekend, but we have run into some problems with the design so I just want to revisit the design some more to figure these things out.

But here is a basic feature lineup:

  • User accounts
  • My page
  • Messages/guest book
  • Shop integration
  • Keywords
  • Image commenting
  • Favorites
  • Settings for random
...and of cause, design.

There will probably be some more features, but they may or may not come from the start so I will leave them to later, don't want to promise things we won't do.

Round Corners and Tabs

Had som headaches about implementing the design I made because it contains roundcorners on everything and even round tabs here and there. Also I wanted a bit of dynamic width on stuff. In other words crap ass hard to do. But after I have found some examples and done a lot of CSS wrestling I acctually made it, and a lot faster and easier then I thought possible. It even works perfectly in all important browsers, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari then, so I'm very happy.

The goal of the final istheshit.net 2.0 isn't close yet at all but I have taken a big step.

Next time, some design drafts and and fundamental function outlineing, so come back.

The Team

Ok, the team is ready and it goes like this.

Bonq - Design
Tobias - CSS xhtml
Sakletare - SQL PHP
Jolt - Apache server admin
Palmik - PR SOE

And yes we have lots of things up our sleeve, you have no idea the huge planes we have. Like always plans need implementation time and that's the thing we dont have that much of but we will work as fast as we possibly can....ehum...as fast as we want ;)

Probably we will have to implement some functions later, but never the less. Version 2.0 will be superb in all ways possible. The design will be smooth and round. We are planning to use some AJAX because it's both hip and good. We have got approval to use a really cutting edge technique for.... nah wount tell you yet. Don't want to spoil the fun. But it will surely be something extra I can tell you that.

We also drafted a new thought about content classifications using categories and big bunch of wiki-thinking that could be really good but it needs some more drafting before we decide if it's doable.

aretheshit.net

We have just implemented so aretheshit.net works the same as istheshit.net in other words if you go to glorp.aretheshit.net you will end up at glorp.istheshit.net.

Design drafts

Design is going along well, have the first of a series of design drafts for the version 2 ready and it feels quite good. The respons from my fellow friends co-devs have been sweet and I feel that the v2 will be a real nice site when it comes to graphics too.

I will post some early drafts later, just need to think about some details I have missed when doing the design.

dev-machine the smart way

Our dev-machine is up and running, it's a monsturous machine running at a wooping 166Mhz. Ya you read it right, it's an old pentium 166. "Why the heck do you use a crap machine like that?" you probably ask. Because we though like this; If we can't get the system to work smoothly for 1 user at the time on a pentium 166 it wount work for 10k+ users on any high end machine.

And ya, I think it accually is the same motherboard I used for istheshit.net at the start. So back to the roots you might say.

Development of version 2 started

We will start the work on istheshit version 2.0 as soon as possible. It will be full of fantastic, exciting and shiny new features (think web 2.0 ;), have a new look and feel (think nice graphics and colors and other beautiful stuff) and an even better server (think xeon, think scsi, think raid, think more ram than you'll ever see).
And of all this wonderful stuff we will tell you ...nothing. Why? Because we do this in our spare time, we have regular jobs, so we don't want to promise anything that we don't have the time to deliver.

We would however like for you to tell us what you would like to see on istheshit. We have big plans, but they can always be a little bigger. ;-)

Leave a comment and tell us what you want to see!

Graphics whore reporting for duty

Ok since the other 2 just signed in. I feel a desperate need to do the same. I'm the graphics guy and completes the istheshit.net core team of...three....pirates. I do the graphics like the, black boxes on the main site and and and, ya I done most of the shirts too =)

I focus on the design and GUI for the new version of istheshit.net and yes this time it will have design, and nice one. If your kind I will post some graphic samples later on.

Code monkey signing in.

Worst episode ever! Eh... first blog post ever!

I'll be doing the coding, in other words; all the boring stuff that you won't see anything off other than the output.

First blog post ever!

For jolt anyway!

Jolt is the guy behind the server. If something needs configuring, he's the one who does it, and as the site is still up I guess some things are actually working.

istheshit.net development blog open

Hi

We thought it would be nice to have some kind of communication with our visitors so we desided to open a blog. This will mainly focus on whats happening behind the scenes of istheshit.net and often be way more jibberish then the standard http://news.istheshit.net

Stay tuned and please leave some comments if you want to.
